Representatives from the AT-VIRTUAL project arrived in Cork on the 25thFebruary to participate in a two day meeting of the project hosted by partner CorkBIC. Partners also participated in a tour of the NMCI, which included a visit to the sea survival pool, firefighting and damage control training facilities on campus.
The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme. Now in its second year the project seeks to accelerate the digitisation of Maritime Safety Training Centres (MSTC’s) in the Atlantic Area (AA), through the introduction of emerging technologies (Vision Technologies, Big Data and the Internet of Things (IoT) in simulation – based training systems. This will improve AA capacity, preparedness, resilience and incident response to maritime incidents and emergencies in Atlantic waters, while fostering innovation and sustainable growth in businesses.
We at Halpin are responsible for the design and implementation of the projects capitalization strategy. The strategy was recently completed and efforts will be focused on ensuring the successful implementation of this going forward. In addition to this we are we are working to finalise areas in our MSTC service delivery which could benefit from digitalisation in advance of the first of three open calls to be conducted in June 2020. The calls will be open to technology based SME’s in areas such as but not limited to, Vision Technologies, Big Data and the IoT.
If you or perhaps someone you may know might be interested in participating in the project we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact Maria Looney, AT-VIRTUAL Project Manager on behalf of the National Maritime College of Ireland at: email@example.com
